MRI Cold Service - the unique cryogenic service for magnetic
resonance imaging systems
In medical science liquid helium is used as a coolant
in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
The extremely low temperature of liquid helium (-269°C,
just 4 K above absolute zero) allows electromagnet coils to become
superconducting, producing enormous current densities and hence
very powerful magnetic fields.
MRI tomography uses these powerful fields to produce
detailed sectional pictures of the human body without the use
of damaging X-rays. AIR PRODUCTS MRI Cold Service offers
a unique and comprehensive service for the cryogenic maintenance
of MRI equipment.
